Steve is an artist presently based in Atlanta, GA, where he has lived for over 20 years. His current work has developed from several years of experimenting with abstract and surrealistic variations of human and natural forms. Sometimes these forms collide within a painting. What you see may appear to be simple studies of the human figure, but they are also about the beauty of the human form. His work explores the composition that can be found within the light and shadows of the figure. Also important are the deep colors and contrasts, as well as how lines flow around the paintings subject and space that it occupies. He is constantly asking as he paints, where does the physical and spiritual meet? Where do we as humans fit into this mix and what does this look like? How can he express this visually to himself and his viewers?

Art is a continuous experiment, always progressing and changing, just as we change. Steve’s hope is that after completion, his paintings will be truly experienced by others. That experience will not be the same as his, and that is the beauty and magic of art.
