April (Kat) Scruggs

April Scruggs, also known as “Kat”, has been creating art her whole life.  At her home studio, Kat uses mixed media materials, including paint, papers, collaging materials, photographs, and resin to create each one of a kind piece.  Her art is a reflection of her inner spirit and the organic quality of her life.  Kat often creates custom pieces using personal family photos and objects.  As a Visual Merchandising  Professional for Bloomingdale’s Department Store, Kat utilizes her connection with creativity and her attention to detail to create stylized floor designs and show pieces.

“Art is my heart. It is my life and my inspiration. Whether it is production or visual merchandising for Bloomingdales, I am immersed in the desire to create. With this desire, I am able to occupy my non-stop brain by exploring different ideas and products for texture use.

I like for my pieces to reflect life at every angle imaginable. Since I have been creating, I have been drawn to human experiences and emotions. These works are often able to tell a story on their own while never being plotted. For example, The Long Road Home tells the story of life-long memories depicted through neutral colors and contrasting textures. My 2007 collection offers a unique interpretation of life.”  Kat Scruggs
